Medical tourism gets boost from OFWs: health official

AN OFFICIAL from the Department of Health (DOH) said stakeholders in the country’s health and wellness industry should not rely on the European and American markets since the Philippines already has a “natural market” for the industry.
“We should appreciate that the Philippines’s medical tourism industry is sustainable because of the overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who are coming to avail themselves of medical and wellness products here,” said Anthony Calibo, manager of the DOH’s medical tourism program.
